Ryan shook his head. \u201cThat\u2019s insane.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be,\u201d I said, \u201cif there weren\u2019t badge records, login timestamps, reimbursement forms, and emails.\u201d<\/p>\n
I pulled a thin envelope from inside my jacket. I had already given compliance the originals, but I wanted my family to see that this wasn\u2019t anger talking. This was paper. Dates. Facts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThree days before I was fired,\u201d I said, \u201cRyan texted me asking for the updated vendor access sheet because he said his laptop had crashed. I sent it. An hour later, approvals were submitted from my account while I was in a client meeting in Dayton. Mercer\u2019s security logs confirmed my badge was used in another building at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paula stood. \u201cThat\u2019s enough.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ryan\u2019s face changed then. The confidence was gone. \u201cDad,\u201d he said, almost laughing, \u201cyou know he\u2019s been obsessed with blaming me.\u201d<\/p>\n
But my father didn\u2019t answer. He was staring at the envelope in my hand.<\/p>\n
